Our Mission

In short, our mission is to serve like Jesus, to love like Jesus, and to share His Gospel.

We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful, can change cold hearts and stubborn minds, and equip us to go and share the good news with others. In Owen county, Lighthouse has had this impact ever since it was founded in 1979. We strive to unify the community, to share in the good news with the lost and lonely, and to walk in faith with the freely given gift, the Holy Spirit. And don’t let that put you off, we are not here to spiritualify, but we do believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. However, every gift from God must be grounded on His word. We believe in the combination of the Word and the Spirit, in tandem with one another, not separate. We are not here to prove to you that the Holy Spirit exists, but nor will be be shy about what we believe.

That being said, our services are always family orientated, and we believe that even though spirituality can sometimes make people feel uncomfortable as it may be a new experience, nothing we do is ever “put on.” In fact, we strive to stay away from putting on a show, or deliberately trying to intensify a situation to cause more “impact.”

Instead, we let God do what he wants to do in our service, whilst making sure that the way we interact spiritually with God is always biblically sound. Sometimes, our service times may be extended, sometimes they may even fall short. Either way, it doesn’t matter to us, because God is not tied down to human service structure. The Holy Spirit moves in ways we cannot comprehend, and when that happens, we would be foolish to get in the way.

Our ultimate aim is for you to experience God, to grow in His Word in fellowship with other believers, and in doing so, form your own personal relationship with Him, through His Son, Jesus Christ.
